About

Improv Sessionistas started in 2019 as a musical improv group, with our very first show at “Lagablab” in Pineapple Lab, Poblacion, Makati. Since then, we’ve been running as a self organized collective, creating and putting up improv shows. We love musical improvisational theater, but we also enjoy playing around with different improv formats. The group has about twenty members, with a core of ten to twelve who regularly perform.

Our mission is to be a living sandbox for creative expression through improv. We believe in creating a space where everyone can be real, where presence matters more than perfection, and where mistakes are not failures but stepping stones toward growth. In this space, we celebrate authenticity and nurture the skills that make us better artists, better collaborators, and better people.

Our vision is to bring improv to more hearts and more places. Beginning in 2025, we will grow our shows, making them more frequent and bringing them beyond one stage. We will perform in the metro, in the provinces, and across borders, carrying with us the joy of play and connection. Each show is an invitation to gather, to laugh, to wonder, and to discover something new together. We will explore new formats and themes, daring to experiment while also honoring the forms that have shaped us.

Our workshops are where we plant the seeds of this vision. We will gather regularly to play, with each member sharing games that allow us to learn, teach, and inspire one another. These sessions are not just about practice but about building trust, sharpening our voices, and celebrating our collective creativity. Beyond our own circle, we will open workshops to others, creating bridges for more people to step into the world of improv and experience its power.

We welcome improvisers of every kind and give them a stage through our show series called “Sessionista Spotlight.” We also host improv jams where anyone can practice games with us in a fun and supportive space. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and we often team up with other improv groups to create unique shows together. Beyond the stage, we also support advocacies that are close to our heart, using improv as a way to connect, uplift, and inspire.
